The biggest challenge was definitely grappling with backend concepts like database design, API authentication, and server architecture. Learning a new language (Node.js/Express) and framework while also understanding infrastructure (Docker, cloud services) was a steep curve. However, the reward of building an entire application end-to-end, understanding how all the pieces fit together, and having greater control over the development process has been immense. It's broadened my perspective and made me a more versatile developer.
