Regarding whitelisting tabs (#5), yes, Chrome allows you to add specific sites that should 'Always keep this site active' under the Performance settings, right below the Memory Saver toggle.

I disagree that database design is the 'biggest' challenge. For me, it was always the deployment pipeline and CI/CD. So many moving parts!

Speaking from experience, 'moderate traffic initially' can quickly become 'oh crap we're down' if you don't plan for scaling from day one. Whichever you choose, design for elasticity.
